V.A. :: 140 Songs der Bands vom SXSW 2011
Schon vor Jahren wühlte ich mich im Internet durch das Line-up des South By Southwest-Festivals in Austin, Texas und freute mich darüber, dass die Organisatoren zu jeder Band ein oder zwei freie MP3s anboten. So konnte ich zum Beispiel eine mir bis dahin noch unbekannte Bands namens The National entdecken, die vorab ihren Song „All The Wine“ von einem Album namens „Alligator“ zur Verfügung stellte. Auch die nicht ganz so durchgestarteten Asobi Seksu gerieten durch die Festivalwebsite in meinen Fokus und wenig später in meine Plattensammlung.
In diesem Jahr werden nun wieder vom 11. bis zum 20. März hunderte Bands in Austin auflaufen, um auch in der kleinsten Hütte vor einem Publikum zu spielen, das sich zu großen Teilen aus Bookern, A&Rs, Festivalveranstaltern, Clubbesitzern und Musikjournalisten zusammensetzt.
Die MP3s zum Festival gibt es diesmal über die Website spinner.com. Drei Packen mit insgesamt rund 140 Songs. Da gibt’s ausnahmsweise mal für die Masse die volle Punktzahl, vor allem weil man in den Songs von Takka Takka, Wye Oak, Surfer Blood, Royal Bangs, John Grant und Caitlin Rose auch Klasse findet.
